In the Today show, Matt Lauer interviewed new Wal-Martt CEO Mike Duke to talk about the economy and changes he sees in consumers’ buying pattern. Some of the things Duke pointed out relate to: electronics business (for inside entertainment – TV, games such as Wii) is in fact doing well when people expect such kind of spending to be going down; children and infant’s apparel is stronger than adult apparel; and people are becoming more conscious about staying healthy as they spend more on vitamins. When asked about the Employee Free Choice Act allowing employees to create unions more freely, Duke said this is damaging long-term to the economy.
