Jobless claims continue to drop

Initial jobless claims continue to drop as the number of people filing drops by 47,000 to 522,000 for the period ending July 11.  This brings four-week average of new claims lower by 22,500 to 584,500, which is the lowest since the end of January.

This brings the total of continuing claims (drawn by workers for more than one week) to 6,273,000, lower by 642,000 and the lowest since April 11.

But apparently, this need not be taken so positively.
