Spending cut produces protests

The plan to reduce California’s $26bn budget deficit by a $15bn cut in spending sparked anger amongst the people of the state producing protests all over the state.  President of California Teachers Association said relating to the $6bn cut in education spending:

“We used to have the best schools in the country but education in California is taking 60 per cent of the cuts.

“This is going to mean higher class sizes, approximately 20,000 teachers losing their jobs and no music, arts or physical education.”
